Today sim racing is a motorsport discipline recognised by the FIA and the German DMSB. It is a sport in its own right and an affordable way into real motorsport.
Thanks to realistic simulation, real racing teams use simulators as a training tool as well. Series such as the NLS and EuroNASCAR also race virtually, making the step from virtual to real racing a smooth one.
